Senior Software Engineer

Reporting & Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position reports to Manager, Software Engineering
  • This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

Key Job Elements

  • Knowledge of engine operation and engine mechanics
  • Mechanical and electrical system modeling
  • Development of model-based control algorithms for electrical and mechanical devices
  • Software architecture design
  • Generate efficient, re-usable, defect-free embedded C/C++ code
  • Work with customers and engine calibration engineers to define and develop new software features
  • Support customers and engine calibration engineers by answering software-related implementation questions and investigating and diagnosing field issues



  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • MS or Ph.D. preferred


  • Eight (8) years relevant software engineering experience
  • Proficient in C/C++ and a strong interest in writing embedded software
  • Solid electrical and mechanical engineering aptitude
  • Comprehensive knowledge of model-based control systems
  • Motivated, self-sufficient, technically diverse, and easily adaptable
  • Capable of reading and interpreting DC electrical system schematics
  • Matlab or similar technical computing language
  • Understanding of internal combustion engine operation preferred

Position Type, Schedule and Travel

This is a full-time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel may be required for job duties, but likely under 5%.
