Embedded Software Engineer

Reporting & Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position reports to Manager, Software Engineering
  • This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

Key Job Elements

  • Write embedded C code for engine controllers and other electro-mechanical devices
  • Produce defect-free software while balancing execution efficiency, memory consumption, and maintainability
  • Contribute to the software libraries and tools used on embedded platforms
  • Support customers and engine calibration engineers by answering software-related implementation questions
  • Develop interdisciplinary skills and application knowledge to support software feature definition and product development

Qualifications

Education

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering

Experience

  • Proficient in C software development
  • Strong interest in writing embedded software for automotive applications
  • Embedded microcontroller software development experience preferred
  • Solid mechanical and electrical engineering aptitude
  • Understanding of internal combustion engine fundamentals preferred
  • Capable of reading and interpreting basic DC electrical system schematics
  • Motivated, self-sufficient, technically diverse, and easily adaptable

Position Type, Schedule and Travel

This is a full-time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel may be required for job duties, but likely under 5%.
