Process Engineer

Reporting & Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position reports to the Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineering.
  • This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

Key Job Elements

Support Manufacturing Operations

  • Design experiments to develop optimum production processes - manual assembly, automated assembly, press operations, automated inspection, testing, etc
  • Identify and solve production/quality issues
  • Plan and develop processes and capacity utilization strategy for assembly operation of electrical components
  • Ensure production readiness of key processes
  • Troubleshoot root cause for equipment and process related problems
  • Develop appropriate secondary manufacturing processes
  • Create work instructions & procedures and update existing
  • Conduct time studies, modify BOMs and routings
  • Work with suppliers on component issues
  • Train operators

Support New Product Development and Continuous Improvement Efforts

  • Design for manufacturability input
  • Define assembly strategy for production
  • Design new assembly equipment & tooling
  • Participate in PFMEA and/or DFMEA
  • Collect and analyze data from assembly operations
  • Improve existing fixtures and tooling
  • Explore & implement cost reduction ideas
  • Identify, source, and set up critical spare parts for production cells
  • Able to interpret assembly and component drawings and the requirements within

Support Quality

  • Participate in gage R&R and MSA efforts
  • Perform FFF testing, participate in MRB meetings
  • Work with customer service personnel to solve field returns

Support the Safety Initiative

  • Establish solutions to safety near misses

Personal Development

  • Learn how our products work and how they are used 
  • Learn new skills and be educated on new technologies

Qualifications

Education

  • B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or B.S.E.T. Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of high volume Electronic Manufacturing, preferably for automotive applications
  • Prefer Six Sigma training or certification

Position Type, Schedule, and Travel

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
